I was reading through blogs and this one kind of stood out to me. The thing that stood to me wasn’t what Daisy was writing about but how she wrote it. It wasn’t formal at all. Instead of me reading it, it felt like a conversation. That’s what Daisy does well and I mean REALLY WELL. I always write formally and this kind of gives me a clue on how to write in your own voice. Plus when someone writes in their own voice instead of it sounding like an essay it keeps the reader interested and want to read more.

            Zarrin is really amazing with the things she does to her blog posts. She’s able to write and elaborate so well. The thing that I think that makes her blog posts so good is that she gets straight to the point without giving too much away. By doing that she keeps her readers all the way to the end and on the edge of their seats. To make it even better she added vocabulary words. Her choices of words are unique and make her blog posts interesting.

            Last but not least is Hannah’s blog post. Like Daisy she talks in her own voice and that makes it really better. But another thing is all the things she notices. She puts her expressions into her blog. It sounds like she was really excited to do her blog and that made it more interesting to read. Hannah really is infinite. J

The first thing that popped up in my mind when I started reading was a picture of the sky breaking apart by some kind of light. That’s the image I always get when I think about death. I basically think of heaven. In the second stanza it talks about how death is the road, life is the traveler, and soul is the guide. I think what that means is death is the path you have to take while you’re alive. Your soul guides you through the path so it can move on. In the third stanza it talks about what our mind thinks and what our heart thinks. What I think is that what our mind thinks is fact and the thing our heart thinks is hope.

            I think this poem is about how you have to go down a dangerous path of death and you’re the traveler. You’re seeking for life down that path and your soul is helping you. There’s a constant struggle between death and life always. You just can’t avoid it. Even though you know death will always come at last but you’re hoping that you’ll live forever. What you don’t notice is your soul thinks about living forever but you don’t notice that because you’re worried about dying.

                                                   

It Not That Funny, Actually Pretty Serious

SPOILER ALERT!

In the book It’s Kind Of A Funny Story by Ned Vizzini, Craig Gilner gets to go to the best school in Manhattan’s Executive Pre- Professional. He passes the test that he had been studying for his entire 8^th grade year by getting all the questions right. If you think that’s it then wait until you hear this. Craig starts to fall behind everyone else in his class. He gets piles of weeks of homework just to get back on track.

Then the pressure and depression start. First as soon as he notices he wants to suicide he gets medicine to counter act his depression called Zoloft. But as soon as he starts to feel better after a few weeks and feels like he can take on the world he stops taking the Zoloft. WELL THAT WAS A DUMB KNUCKLE HEADED MOVE HE DID THERE! He ends up in a mental hospital. When he starts noticing that all the people in there are WAY screwed up then him and starts noticing that the one thing that makes him feel better is making brain maps he starts to handle his depression. Then he transfers to an art school.

Craig just wanted to go to the best school he knew about. He wanted to lead a good life, have a happily family, a nice car, and a nice house. What he didn’t notice is that if he probably did get all that he would end up at a mental hospital, and this time for a VERY LONG TIME. I guess it’s kind of like a life lesson here, make your career something you love to do so you won’t have to feel all of the pressure that Craig did, and you’ll probably won’t start thinking about suicide or even commit it. WE WOULDN”T WANT THAT!!!!! J

Ewwww Snape, The Hero?!

First thing is that Snape isn’t really a bad guy for people who still thinks he’s creepy and weird. In the early beginning of book #7 he’s at a meeting with the Deatheaters. He was the calmest out of all the Deatheaters at the meeting when Voldemort entered. I’m guessing the reason for that was because Voldemort trusted him the most. No one was really thinking that he might be a double- agent and working for Dumbledore. Later on the teacher at Hogwarts that taught about Muggles was killed. Snape couldn’t help it. It was either save her or the whole population of Wizards and Muggles. It was an important sacrifice that had to happen.

            If it wasn’t for Snape Harry wouldn’t have possibly found the Gryffindor sword and be able to destroy the Horcrux. In the beginning of the series I guessed it looked like he hated Harry. I’m guessing the reason for that was because he was the son of James. James used to bully Snape when they were young, that kind of blinded Snape to know that actually the only one who was doing the bullying was Draco. Then in the sixth book he kills Dumbledore. That made him look like the bad guy. But really he didn’t want to blow off his cover. His job was to help bring Voldemort down in any way possible and that meant sacrifices.

            The thing that I wanted to really figure out the most was why he agreed to help bring down Voldemort? Ever since he was a little boy he thought of joining Voldemort. Snape followed Voldemort’s tracks and eventually joined him. He would hang out with people that would do mean things like Dark Magic and who wanted to join the Dark Lord. His environment was nothing but joining Voldemort and doing cruel things with Dark Magic. So what made him turn back? Who or what was that light that showed him the right way? It was Lily. He had always loved her. Then when Snape found out that Lily would die by Voldemort he tried to warn them through Dumbledore. It was because of how deeply he loved and desired Lily that Snape was able to turn his head and come back, away from the darkness. I guess in a way he was Harry’s guardian but just didn’t show it the way you would expect to. Was it revenge that made him want to kill Voldemort?

Atherton: The House Of Power

Basically all I’ve read in this book is about a boy named Edgar finds a book in the cliff that he always climbs on. Since he can’t read the book because it’s not allowed in Tabletop, he has to climb all the way up the vertical mountain and finds a boy, Samuel who can read it to him. They only read a few pages of it before Edgar has to go back down so people won’t notice he’s missing. On Edgar’s second visit to the Highlands (on top of the cliff where Samuel lives) Samuel gets caught with the book and is locked up in a room. Edgar escapes and climbs back down. The Highlands is sinking down into Tabletop and they start fighting. Edgar finds a page from the book in his pocket and captures one of the people from the Highlands (Sir Emerick) and tells him to read him the page. Sir Emerick lies and tells the boy there’s a second book in the Flatlands (a barren wasteland full of creatures that nobody has seen). So Edgar takes the trip down to the Flatlands. It takes him a few days and he ends up with his shoulder bone popped out of its place, a missing pinky, and a concussion. But the good thing is he still livesJ.

            I actually found this book in my house. It was just laying there on a table and I never seen it before. I asked my dad if someone left it in his car and he said maybe. The cover looked really cool and I picked it up and started reading. I just wasn’t able to put it down once I started but since I’m only human I have to go to sleep sometimes. But even then it would be the only thing on my mind. I would always be thinking what would happen next. Then a few days later my sister said it was a book she borrowed from her school’s library. I WAS BUMMED OUT WHEN I HEARD THAT. I thought I would have to stop reading it and give it to her. But since she’s nice she let me borrow it for a weekJ.

            If I would have found out that I went all that way down to a barren wasteland of DEATH I would have been pissed off. It kind of brings me back to the saying all is fair in love and war. But I’m pretty sure there are limits to that. What kind of cruel human being would send a 12 year old boy down to his death? I guess in a way Edgar cheated death and he’s probably thinking of revenge. Edgars really tough to do something so dangerous like that. He did something that no one was able to do or have the guts to do. It just shows how much of a fighter Edgar is and will do almost anything.

Mockingjay Ending

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!
     Last time I left off saying something like this, Katniss will have to keep going to ensure the human race doesn't die out and will have to kill the tyrants of the Capitol. (SPOILER ALERT STARTING NOW) now imagine the tyrants of the Capitol weren't so bad. The side that's actually fighting for freedom against the Capitol is bad, well just the leader anyway. That is what happens when Katniss' team gets almost eliminated and only Gale and Peeta (who is now very dangerous to the team because the Capitol hijacks his brain and gives him false thoughts of Katniss which makes him want to kill Katniss) are left. They rest of the team got killed by pods or eaten by mutts. Katniss and Gale lose Peeta when the rebels successfully penetrate the Capitol lamost to Snow's mansion. Then halfway through Gale gets captured by Peacekeepers and Katniss has to go by herself to assasinate Snow. When she reaches the mansion it's surrounded by kids and planes with the Capitol emblem on them drop silver parachutes. When the kids get them they explode and then the rebel medic team comes and there's a second explosion which kills Katniss' sister, Prim. Snow then gets captured and when Katniss finally meets him Snow says it wasn't him who dropped those bombs. Then when the time for the execution comes Katniss kills Coin instead of Snow because she was really the one who dropped the bombs on the kids.
     First of all I was REALLY SHOCKED to read this. The rebels were the good guys so why the hell would they drop bombs on the Capitol kids. It says in the book Coin wanted to bring a quick end to the war but that is not the way to do it!!! This just kind of shows that no matter how good a person you think is they're still EVIL when it comes to war time. Coin thought Katniss was a threat and she was so right! Basically because of that incident the rebels make the Capitol look like the good guys. Katniss has almost lost everything that meant so much to her in her life. But even then she put away her problems and killed the REAL TYRANT. If I would of lost so much like her, I would just be a deep black hole full of despair and sorrowness. Katniss is really strong and she proves it again and again. 

Everything Is On Fire and You Have To Fight To The Death Again

    In the book the Hunger Games Katniss had to take place in the Hunger Games instead of her sister Prim. She survived and returned. Then in Catching Fire she had to go back and fight to the death again. Instead of it ending the way it did in the Hunger Games she broke free and escaped the arena. She had help from the rebels of District 13 and was brought their to safety. Katniss was shocked because she never really thought District 13 existed and to see how far District 13 was even more surprising. Her home District 12 was destroyed but Gale, her friend that she can trust with anything, managed to keep some of the population of 12 alive and brought safely to 13.
    Now Katniss agreed to becoming the Mockingjay, a symbol of hope to the rebels. Shortly after that she was sent to District 8 to come up with a powerful line. District 8 was recently bombed by the Capitol and there were many wounded and killed. They were being kept in a worn-out warehouse as a hospital. As soon as Katniss entered she brought everyone hope. But soon another bombing happened by the Capitol and everybody in the hospital died but Katniss and her bodyguards were outside and were taking down the planes. That was when she said "And if we burn you burn with us!"
    If I were to fight to my death over and over again I would seroiusly lose hope. If I were to feel the pain that Katniss feels over and over again I would be ready to die, I should be dead. But Katniss isn't like that, she's a strong person who has been piled up with responsibilities ever since her dad died, to keep her family going. Now she has to keep going to ensure the human existence will go on and the tyrants of the Capitol will fall down.
