SPOILER ALERT!
In the book It’s Kind Of A Funny Story by Ned Vizzini, Craig Gilner gets to go to the best school in Manhattan’s Executive Pre- Professional. He passes the test that he had been studying for his entire 8th grade year by getting all the questions right. If you think that’s it then wait until you hear this. Craig starts to fall behind everyone else in his class. He gets piles of weeks of homework just to get back on track.
Then the pressure and depression start. First as soon as he notices he wants to suicide he gets medicine to counter act his depression called Zoloft. But as soon as he starts to feel better after a few weeks and feels like he can take on the world he stops taking the Zoloft. WELL THAT WAS A DUMB KNUCKLE HEADED MOVE HE DID THERE! He ends up in a mental hospital. When he starts noticing that all the people in there are WAY screwed up then him and starts noticing that the one thing that makes him feel better is making brain maps he starts to handle his depression. Then he transfers to an art school.
Craig just wanted to go to the best school he knew about. He wanted to lead a good life, have a happily family, a nice car, and a nice house. What he didn’t notice is that if he probably did get all that he would end up at a mental hospital, and this time for a VERY LONG TIME. I guess it’s kind of like a life lesson here, make your career something you love to do so you won’t have to feel all of the pressure that Craig did, and you’ll probably won’t start thinking about suicide or even commit it. WE WOULDN”T WANT THAT!!!!! J
